Parents' and Friends'Association

The Parents' and Friends’ Association of King Edward VI Aston has been in continuous operation since 1938: it is not the first, but as perhaps one of the oldest active Parents’ Associations in the country, we need your interest and support to maintain this fabulous tradition.

Parents’ Association meetings

The Parents' and Friends’ Association is a group of parents, carers and friends who support the school through fundraising and practical help. Last year we raised over £16,000! The school has bought a variety of equipment and activities from the school curriculum that improve students' educational experience and readiness for the workplace; data logging and monitoring equipment for the science and PE departments, iPads for use in Food Technology, additional revision booths in the pastoral hub, money workshops and items for the pond rewilding project. We have had the privilege of serving refreshments at a number of school events, providing lunchtime treats to support staff wellbeing and even judging the sixth form house cooking competition!

Scribbles

The school stationery shop is now up and running - stocking both everyday equipment that students need and revision guides for both GCSEs and A-Levels. The shop is open for students once a fortnight on 'alternate' Thursday - the same day as enrichment activities - between 12:50 pm and 1:50 pm. So far, this has been staffed by Royala and Teresa whilst we have been getting it back up and running. We are now looking forward to creating a team of people who could support this, maybe coming once a half-term, even once a term if we have a big enough team.

Dates for this half-term are January 25th and February 8th. After half-term, the dates will be February 29th and March 14th. Please do let us know if you would like to join in with this.

Upcoming this Spring (2024)

The main event this term is, of course, the school production - the first since COVID arrived, and we are very much looking forward to it. Dates for this will be 20th, 21st, and 22nd March. I'm sure we'll all be keen to watch the performance, so it would be great to have a big team of people involved in refreshments.

Other dates where we will be supporting the school with refreshments are:

  • Thursday, 22nd Feb - Parental support evening
  • Thursday, 14th March - Year 10 parents' evening
  • Monday, 18th March - Year 9 options evening

We are also looking forward to judging more cooking competitions and  the launch of a range of branded merchandise such as scarves, beanies and coats that will be available for sale to students, old boys, friends and family - in fact anyone at all!
