PE

The importance of regular physical education and sporting opportunity is recognised at Aston. The PE curriculum provides opportunity for all pupils to develop mentally, physically and socially through two PE lessons a fortnight and Games every Friday afternoon. Students grow in confidence, acquire leadership skills and learn lifelong healthy lifestyles and habits. The PE department aims to ensure all students enjoy a range of physical activities and provide opportunity for all students of all abilities to represent the school in a variety of competitive sports.

In Year 7, pupils do the following activities:

Autumn term: base line physical tests, rugby and hockey

Spring term: indoor tennis, trampolining and athletics

Summer term: athletics and cricket

Year 7 pupils are assessed twice a year, primarily focusing on effective performance within a competitive situation.

Information on kit required can be found here.

There are a variety of extra-curricular clubs at both lunchtime and after school, which pupil are encouraged to attend. A timetable for these clubs is released at the beginning of each term.

If you are an Elite Sports Person, please let us know so that we can support you. The head of department is Mr Wright-Smith. He can be contacted by emailing s.wright-smith@keaston.bham.sch.uk. Any absences arising from Elite Sports commitments have to be authorised by the Headteacher.
