The Governing Body of Aston School is seeking to appoint an inspirational, committed and highly motivated Assistant Headteacher to support the Headteacher in delivering a vision for outstanding achievement, both within the curriculum and beyond, in a culture which embodies our core values of honesty, kindness, diligence and integrity.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to make a significant contribution to our school improvement plan, both at strategic and operational level. Importantly, the successful candidate will be a developing leader and an exceptional team player who thrives in a hard-working, yet compassionate environment.

We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Assistant Headteacher who:

  • Has a good range of relevant teaching experience;
  • Has a passion for school improvement but has the respect to uphold our core school values;
  • Has the ability to set new agendas and lead with innovative ideas;
  • Has the ability to learn from others and the tenacity to get things done;
  • Will be willing to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school;
  • Has the strategic vision to motivate and inspire learning and educational excellence;
  • Is committed to welfare and safeguarding.

The specific responsibilities relating to behaviour and standards are detailed in the attached job description.

In turn we will offer you:

  • A Senior Leadership Team which believes in support and challenge of equal measure and sees staff wellbeing as vital for all;
  • A supportive Governing Body, committed to school improvement;
  • A commitment to innovate to solve challenging problems;
  • A chance to grow professionally as part of a very successful Multi-Academy Trust.

We welcome applications from candidates with an ambition to progress to DHT and Headship, and will support this progression and offer suitable CPD opportunities.

To apply, please complete the attached application form (which will include a summary of your teaching and leadership experience/achievements to date in the space provided) along with a letter of application (no more than one side of A4 which explains how you embody our four core values) to Wendi Causer at vacancies@keaston.bham.sch.uk to arrive by 9.00am on Tuesday 7th May 2024.

We would welcome candidates to our school for a tour of the site, and hopefully an opportunity to meet some of our students and staff.  This is not part of the selection procedure.

Interview Date: Friday 10th May 2024 and Monday 13th May 2024
